Family

Every once in awhile, life hands us challenges that require us to step away from everything we have and decide what we're doing to keep it. What are we doing to deserve the things we love most in this world?

And sometimes its a simple and resounding silence. A moment when we realize that we've put the wrong things first without even knowing it. The fact of the matter is, as long as these three souls are linked to mine in this life there's not much more I need to have. The rest is just material. Unimportant. I could lose my job, my house, my car, the clothes off my back, but as long as these three are still here with me, we can make it.

Monday's Moment: Brothers

A day late, but there was a holiday yesterday! I get a little grace period, right?

Sometimes I see my boys interacting and it gives me such joy. Last night we decided to take a little hike through the neighborhood to get some fresh air, enjoy the rainy weather, and get ice cream. We hoisted each boy on our backs in their Bobas (seriously a life saver) and took off.

After lots of giggles and Blue Moo stained lips and tongues and noses, we headed back. Hubby and I walked side by side and behind us, strapped on our backs, Lachlan reached out one chubby hand and his big brother took it and for over a block they simply giggled at each other and held hands.

I just couldn't stop smiling. The four of us were a family. It was such a small, hugely beautiful moment.

What was your moment this long holiday weekend? Feel free to leave a comment or share your own blog entry!

Monday's Moment

My second born, my little fat boy, took his first steps this weekend. Unassisted, shakey little shuffling steps.

What a perfect moment, and captured on film no less! I must say for all the bad aspects of the modern age and constant connection to phones and iPads and the internet, there is a positive. Our children will have an amazing wealth of moments to remember their childhoods by. I love looking at old photos and home videos of my time at home with my sisters and parents. There just isn't that much to look at. Hubby has even fewer photos and no video at all.

For Lachlan

First birthdays are the most nostalgic, it seems. Nothing changes more than a baby in the their first year. They almost become a whole different person. Today is Lachlan's first birthday!
